Electronica four-piece Seasfire recently arrived in my inbox attached to a press release for a cover version of a Banks song. However, after a listen to their single Oh..Lucifer, I felt that to simply share their version of Warm Water wouldn’t really do them justice.
The Bristol band were in the Top 20 most blogged about bands of last year and BBC Introducing described them as “4am melancholy, drifting pianos and desolate songs of heartbreak”. They released an EP titled We Will Wake in December and a seven-inch vinyl called Falling in March. Oh..Lucifer has already received airplay on Radio 1, XFM and 6Music and is paired with a video directed by The 1975 producer James Booth, which you can watch below.
On covering the LA electronic singer Banks’ song Warm Water, frontman Josh Thorn said “We found ourselves completely consumed by this track, so we decided to cover it”. The track sees them tone things down from Oh..Lucifer with a resonating vocal and intriguing electronica work in the background. It’s haunting and as Josh described it, it is pretty consuming.
