Anyone who follows Taylor on Instagram will have seen the screenshots and character portraits that she has been posting for this video for quite some time. It’s possibly the most star-studded video ever made with a dark sci-fi setting full of guns, PVC and plenty of girl power. Lena Dunham, Cara Delevingne, Ellie Goulding and Jessica Alba are just some of Taylor’s famous friends who turn lethal assassin for the cutting pop ballad that is widely believed to be about Taylor’s ongoing feud with Katy Perry. Unlike the 1989 album version of the song, Taylor’s favourite rapper Kendrick Lamar has put in his twopenny’s-worth and added a hip hop edge for the video. Watch it now!

Milwaukee indie band Shoot Down The Moon played their new song Carry Me Carefully for the first time at an intimate gig organised by music discovery company, Sofar Sounds. Playing in their hometown in an intimate setting, the band gave lucky fans a glimpse of what’s the come from them. I reviewed their album Meetings And Greetings way back in late 2012 and found it to be a great mix of American indie and headbanging rock. They appear to have transitioned into a more folk sound now.

Sofar Sounds (Sofar standing for Songs From A Room) started in a North London flat when a group of frustrated live music lovers decided to put the magic back into gigs. It organises private gigs for real music lovers that connects bands and artists directly to their fans in real, humble settings. What began in a single flat in London has now stretched to a business spanning 150 cities around the world. This gig was held at the Art Is For Lovers Gallery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Here is a Liverpool alt-folk five-piece with a soaring, atmospheric sound that is sure to get under your skin and settle. Dreamy and haunting, Cavalry are an exciting newcomer to the scene. Drawing comparisons to The National and Bon Iver, they have had two previous tracks released online -Leaves and Lament. These and a small number of live performances are all they have to show for their early success that has earned them fans at Radio 1, Radio 2 and 6 Music. Channeling an epic indie slant, their upcoming single An Understanding will be released on May 31st and here is the video.

Merge the dark Northern drawl of Arctic Monkeys with the smooth rhythms of a 60s blues club and the new single by The Seagulls is close. Girl You Must Be Dreaming showcases the Leeds’ band’s chilled guitar and easy rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Dubbed “tropical pop” by their fans, The Seagulls are creating their own brand of music and slowly bringing it to the masses. Their live performances are reportedly something not to miss and they are embarking on a mini UK tour next month starting in their home city at The Brewdog on May 3rd. They are then heading to Newcastle on May 10th as they play Head of Steam before bringing their laid-back sound to London on May 16th, where you can catch them at The Islington. Their album is due to drop this summer. Watch the video for the new single now!

The main reason that I wanted to share this video is due to its unique nature. It’s from multi-instrumentalist Fictonian, who shot the main focus of the video (that which you can see on the small TV screen) entirely on a mobile phone. The video was filmed over two years in Croatia and on the riverbanks in Wye, near where the song Make It Be Ours was written. Fictonian said: “I knew exactly what I wanted visually – to work with the lyrics and song, so started recording videos of my feet (and my girlfriends feet) the same day I wrote the song, before it was ever demoed. That was over two years ago now, so I’ve had a lot of feet footage to play with!” The song itself is a little too drab and monotone for me but the concept of the video is intriguing nonetheless!

It’s hard to believe that the voice in this video belongs to a 15-year-old girl from Aberdeen. Best Girl Athlete is Katie Buchan, who possesses a talent to rival that of much older and more experienced artists such as Ellie Goulding and Laura Marling. Hills is the new single from her debut album Carve Every Word which is available to buy on iTunes now. Whimsical and angelic, the album has already received praise from Artrocker and Clash magazine and Katie looks set to become the next big indie-pop songstress. Watch the video for Hills!

Since forming possibly the most hyped pop-rock supergroup ever last year, McBusted are yet to release any new material under their new guise. After playing both Busted and McFly’s best-loved hits on their sell-out tour this spring, Air Guitar is the first official McBusted song to see the light of day. It will be released on November 23rd with a self-titled debut album to follow in December. A booming electronic fuzz and quirky squeaks back this gem of a pop song which follows the same vein as classic Busted tracks -nerd championing and having fun no matter how much of a loser you might be. Dig out your air guitar and rock along to it!
